Principal Crystal Hartsfield

Ms. Hartsfield has been dedicated to early childhood education for over 20 years in Richmond Public Schools. With a passion for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment, she has served as the preschool principal at Martin Luther King Jr. Preschool since 2019. Ms. Hartsfield is committed to fostering a love for learning, promoting social and emotional development, and supporting the unique needs of each child. She works collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents to ensure that every student feels valued and supported on their educational journey. Through her leadership, MLK Preschool continues to thrive as a place where young children can grow, learn, and flourish.

Academic Dean Terry Lee

Dean Lee has been working in the education field for 8 years. Lee graduated from Forest Park High School in Woodbridge, Virginia and attended the University of Lynchburg for his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. He then went on to get two more master’s degrees from University of Lynchburg in Educational Leadership and Early Childhood Special Education. Lee taught Early Childhood Special Education for 6 years in Lynchburg, Virginia at Hutcherson Early Learning Center, earning Teacher of the year in 2022. In 2023, Lee moved to RPS working as the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher at Oak-Grove Bellmeade. This is Lee’s first year at Martin Luther King Jr. Preschool and first year in this position. Mr. Lee is excited to bring his experience working in the Preschool setting to help continue the successful tradition of the school.
